Multi-National Business

The Background
A large multi-national industrial, manufacturing and technology business won a Federal Government contract to manufacture hi-tech hearing aids and engaged an Icecap Consultant to assist them in staffing and structuring their hi-tech hearing aid manufacturing facility in Brisbane. In order to meet the deadlines imposed by the Government, the entire project needed to be operational within a matter of weeks.

The Challenge
Icecap Consulting faced a significant challenge in sourcing the highly specialised employees necessary to have this facility operational and in production within the very short time frame it had been given. Skills and qualifications needed to be identified over 50 highly specialised positions, job descriptions prepared, job advertisements placed in national newspapers and websites, interviews in various capital cities around Australia conducted, candidates short-listed, references checked, personalities profiled, skills and qualifications checked, pre-employment medical examinations conducted and coordinated and letters of offer drafted and sent out, all within a matter of a few weeks.

The Process
The Icecap Consultant worked as part of a team to ensure all key outcomes were delivered on time and on budget. To achieve this the consultant worked closely with the company’s management to develop the employment structures, the documentation and the procedures for identifying suitable candidates, interviewing them and processing their employment applications in a thorough but speedy manner. Over 300 interviews were conducted across Australia. Successful applicants were then put through comprehensive pre-employment checks to ensure each applicant had the skills, experience and attitude to work well within the Company’s organisational culture. The Icecap Consultant also organised extensive Induction Training for all successful applicants.

The Solution
As a consequence of the work done, the company was able to commence production of hearing aids at their Brisbane facility within the time frame specified and meet the conditions of its contract with the Federal Government.
